The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $500,000 to the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls (National Council) via Families for Justice as Healing for general support. The National Council is a network of women impacted by incarceration focused on ending the incarceration of women and girls—a fast-growing incarcerated population—through a mix of relationship building, research, leadership training, and advocacy work.
This grant falls within Open Philanthropy's work on criminal justice reform.
Update: In July 2018, Open Philanthropy added $250,000 to the original award amount. The amounts above have been updated to reflect this.
