Organization:
The Wilson Center
Award Date:
07/2018
Amount:
$400,000
Purpose:
To support a series of in-depth AI policy seminars.

The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $400,000 over two years to the Wilson Center to support a series of in-depth AI policy seminars. Named for President Woodrow Wilson, the Wilson Center is a non-partisan policy forum for tackling global issues through independent research and open dialogue. Open Philanthropy believes the seminar series could help raise the salience of AI policy in Washington, D.C. policymaking circles, and could help it identify and empower one or more influential thinkers in those circles, a key component of Open Philanthropy's AI policy strategy.

This grant falls within Open Philanthropy's work on potential risks from advanced artificial intelligence.
