Good Ventures awarded a gift of $700,000 to the University of Washington to support research into fusion reactors led by Professor Uri Shumlak. This gift will go towards FuZE (Fusion Z-Pinch Experiment), a University of Washington and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory project that is working on a z-pinch-based fusion reactor. The team expects to build on its previous work and focus on refining its understanding of sheared flow stabilized z-pinches. They expect this funding to allow them to hire an engineer/technician and a scientist, enabling much faster data generation.
