Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $189,000 to the University of Missouri to support animal welfare research led by Professor Samniqueka Halsey. This funding will support the creation of a database of wildlife diseases and disease interventions, as well as a stress index measuring the impact of disease on wild animal welfare. The project was endorsed by the Wild Animal Initiative due to its potential to expand the field of welfare biology.
This grant was recommended by Open Philanthropy’s farm animal welfare team.
