Good Ventures awarded a grant of $100,000 to the Heffter Research Institute for general operating support, as part of our work on drug policy reform. Research on psychedelics appears to be a neglected and potentially important aspect of drug policy reform. Based on conversations with our advisor Graham Boyd, whom we hired to help us explore giving opportunities in this area, it's our impression that Heffter is one of two leading nonprofits undertaking research on possible medical uses for psychedelics.
Heffter expects to use this grant to hire a communications firm to help it develop a communications strategy over the coming year. We plan to consider an additional grant to support Heffter's research efforts in the future.
