Good Ventures awarded a gift of $4,000,000 over five years to Mass Eye and Ear to support research by Harvard faculty member Joseph F. Arboleda-Velásquez, M.D., Ph.D., on the identity and function of genes that delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in humans. The research will aim to identify protective genes, and will examine how they function to prevent pathology leading to cognitive decline. The findings may provide important new insights into the pathology, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer’s.
Good Ventures, with support from Open Philanthropy, has been investigating how best to fund scientific research that might help reduce the future burden of Alzheimer’s disease.
